Subject: The history of the Chippewa Cree of Rocky Boy's Reservation
It is book not be ignored because of it's historical information about chiefs Little Bear and Rocky Boy, as well as other Ojibwa leaders. Chief Little Bear was obviously the highest ranking Mushkego (norhern Ojibwa or Swampy People or as the whites call them, the Cree) leader in the Montana region. The whites did not like him. However, the whites did take to chief Rocky Boy who worked very long with the whites in helping the Ojibwa's get Reservations on the Blackfeet Reservation, and of course, the Rocky Boy Reservation. The information about the Turtle Mountain land allotments is very useful. At least 250 Ojibwa's received land allotments in the Miles City region according to this book. The Ojibwa's should own around 40,000 acres in the Miles City region, and 272,000 acres around the Fort Peck Reservation according to this book. They should also own 10,000s of acres just west of Rocky Boy Reservation and a little north of Harlem. If you are searching for information about Rocky Boy Reservation and chiefs Little Bear and Rocky Boy, this book is very helpful.
