Title
Publish more stuff! Three changes to scientific publication
Contributors
Brian Matthews (STFC Rutherford Appleton Lab.)
Abstract
Modern information technology is changing how science is done, and how it is communicated. In particular, it means that publishing traditional journal articles while still important, is no longer the only way of publishing scientific outputs to get impact. In this talk we shall consider three potentially significant changes to the way that scientific publication is undertaken, especially how different aspects of research can be published to extend the reach and impact of scientist’s work. We speculate how this might change science communities taking us back to the origins of science in the Seventeenth Century, but in a globalised world.
