Title A Survey of Software Tools for Computational Science
Contributors
Abstract This report provides a survey of some of the software tools currently available to assist in the development of Fortran programs using the 1990 and 1995 standards. A few tools also address the development of High Performance Fortran (HPF). This report covers the whole scope of the software development life cycle with the exception of requirements gathering and design tools though the importance of these stages is acknowledged. Using the `waterfall' or `cascade' model of the software development process there are sections covering coding (including source code quality assurance), source code control, the build environment, compiling, debugging, testing and source code documentation.
