Title
A Raman backscattering lidar system for tropospheric radio refractivity determination
Contributors
JL Agnew

Abstract
Lidar provides a continuous remote sensing method for the simultaneous measurement of temperature and humidity profiles in the troposphere. This enables continuous monitoring of the radio refractivity profile with good time and height resolution, which is of great benefit in radiowave propagation studies. Such a system has been developed at Chilbolton Observatory, UK and the first measurements are being produced. The theoretical basis of the measurements, details of the experimental system and a selection of results are presented.
