Title
FORTRAN 77 programming of parallel computers
Contributors
RJ Allan (SERC Daresbury Lab.)
Abstract
A review is given of some of the implementations of the FORTRAN programming language on coarse and medium-grain MIMD processors, which have come to be known as multicomputers. Some general notes on operating systems and algorithm strategy for scientific computing are included. Information is provided on using the parallel computing facilities at Daresbury. Most FORTRAN implementations consist of language extensions for inter-processor and inter-task communications. These are dealt with explicitly and example programs are shown. A new occam-2 harness for the Meiko Computing Surface is described.
