Contributors

Abstract
The European Exascale Software Initiative (EESI-2) started in Septem- ber 2012. It is an EU supported project following on from the successful EESI project that terminated in autumn 2010. The main aim is to advise the European Union on the steps necessary to prepare Europe for exploit- ing the Exascale computers that are anticipated around the end of this decade. One of the buzzwords of EESI-2, is disruptive technologies. We will discuss what is meant by this term and give examples, particularly in the domain of numerical algorithms.
