Researchers: Dr Elizabeth Newnham (Principal investigator)

Brief description Children are among the most vulnerable in disaster settings, and yet little is known about the development of psychological distress following complex trauma. Research conducted at Harvard University and The University of Western Australia will investigate how daily stressors impact psychological distress and resilience among children affected by war and natural disaster. The findings will inform the development of evidence-based mental health interventions for refugee youth in Australia.
