Researchers: Dr Helen Barrett (Principal investigator)

Brief description Women with diabetes in pregnancy and their babies are more likely to have health problems, e.g. preeclampsia, being born early, or admitted to neonatal intensive care unit. We know that lowering mum’s blood glucose to the levels found in women without diabetes is important but does not prevent problems completely. The purpose of these studies is to look at the other parts of metabolism that are different in women with diabetes e.g. blood fats, so we can understand if we should address them.
