Abstract
In this report we present a preliminary study for two algorithms that allow 2D FFT computations presently carried out in the memory associated with a single MPI task running on one core in the gyrokinetic plasma code GS2, to be computed in shared memory either in one node, or in a group of nodes. If this can be done efficiently, it may significantly extend the scalability of GS2 to higher core counts.
