Title
Modern methods for quadratic programming
Contributors
NIM Gould (STFC)
Abstract
In this talk I shall review the important advances in quadratic programming - the optimization of a quadratic function of many variables within a polyhedral feasible region - that have occurred since its inception in the late 1940s. I will consider both the convex and nonconvex cases, and illustrate the significant difficulties that arise in the latter. I shall describe the most successful current approaches, and highlight two new approaches in the convex case that overcome significant defects that arise with current methods.
